Case Studies: Seeing a Teen-Ager and Using an Exorcism for Emetophobia

Seeing a Teen-Ager and Using an Exorcism for Emetophobia
In these two case studies, Rubin Battino demonstrates his flexible, client-centered approach to multiple-issue therapy. In the first case, 17-year-old Olga, facing inner conflict and uncertainty about her future, was guided through Gestalt two-chair dialogue and guided imagery to resolve her internal doubts and develop a sense of clarity and inner support, symbolised by a snow leopard. In the second case, Helena, a 31-year-old mother suffering from emetophobia (fear of vomiting), was treated with a creative "exorcism" method involving hypnotic imagery to externalise and remove the controlling phobic entity, followed by inner-child and maternal resource visualisation techniques to restore a sense of capability and calm. Both clients were empowered to access their own inner healing resources with minimal intervention.
