EMOTION & RECOGNITION AT WORK – Dr. Diana Fosha
This short reading course explores the role of emotions and recognition in the process of transformational change, particularly within the framework of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). It highlights emotions as powerful agents of change, capable of unlocking adaptive resources and promoting healing when properly regulated. The concept of "transformance" is introduced to describe the innate motivational thrust toward growth and healing. Recognition, both as a process and an experience, is crucial in integrating new emotional experiences into the self, thereby facilitating enduring personal transformation.
Understand the Role of Emotions in Change: Students will learn how emotions serve as vehicles of change, providing the adaptive resources necessary for personal growth and healing.
Identify the Concept of Transformance: Students will explore the idea of transformance, the intrinsic motivation towards growth, healing, and self-righting present within individuals.
Explain the Importance of Emotion Regulation: Students will understand the necessity of regulating emotions to harness their transformational potential and prevent being overwhelmed by them.
Recognize the Process and Impact of Recognition: Students will examine how recognition, as both a process and an experience, facilitates the integration of new emotional insights into the self, promoting personal coherence and authenticity.
Explore AEDP’s Approach to Therapy: Students will gain insights into Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and its focus on emotional transformation and dyadic affect regulation.
Analyze the Dynamics of Transformational Experience: Students will analyze the phenomenology of transformational experiences, including the interplay of emotion and recognition, and the impact of these processes on therapeutic outcomes.
